Mark Cunningham led Mayo to national inter-league glory

THE silken skills and gritty determination of Mark Cunningham came to the fore when he lined out for the Mayo Under 12 soccer team last year.

Mark’s exploits in May with Mayo in the FAIS Inter-League final in Tipperary earned him a well-deserved award, and indeed recognition for his team, who have already been honoured by The Connaught Telegraph.

Mayo had a 3-1 win over the Sligo-Leitrim District League but the scoreline conceals the pressure Mayo came under at times and, as team captain, Mark displayed the qualities of a true leader at such a young age.
