Man killed in N5 crash
A MAN in his thirties was killed this evening (Friday) in a road accident involving three vehicles on the N5 between Charlestown and Swinford.
The victim was driving alone in a car which was involved in a collision with two lorries at around 4.50 p.m.
He died at the scene.
Gardaí aren't releasing the name of the man who died but he is understood to have been living in the east Mayo area.
The remains were brought to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar this evening where a post-mortem examination will be carried out over the weekend.
A stretch of the N5 has been closed to traffic and will remain so overnight pending a technical examination of the scene and crash vehicles tomorrow (Saturday).
