Swanick to contest Seanad Éireann election
DR. Keith Swanick has confirmed that he will contest the upcoming Seanad Éireann election.
The Belmullet-based GP has secured a nomination on the Cultural and Education Panel and will represent Fianna Fáil.
A former secretary of the National Association of General Practitioners, Dr. Swanick hails originally from Castlerea in Co. Roscommon. He has been involved in the formulation of health policy for Fianna Fáil and contested the Seanad by-election in 2015.
Dr. Swanick, who believes that true modern day republicanism is manifested by an ethos of fairness and social inclusion, said it was a 'great honour and privilege' to be nominated to contest the Seanad election.
“If elected, I intend to advocate for our people through reform of our healthcare system by tackling the inequalities that exist,” he added.
