Man dies in accident on Cloonfad to Claremorris road
A 35-year-old man died after his car left the road and entered a river near Cloonfad earlier today, An Garda Siochana have confirmed.
The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. when the car left the R327 road between Cloonfad and Claremorris and entered the Dalgan River.
The male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo University Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Emergency services have been at the scene thoughout the day.
A technical examination of the scene has been carried out. The Cloonfad to Claremorris road remains closed to traffic with local diversions in place.
