Search for missing Castlebar man to enter its seventh day

A BUS will depart from Castlebar early tomorrow (Thursday) morning to join the search in Galway for missing 21-year-old Castlebar man Ben Garrett.

Those travelling from the Mayo county town include members of Castlebar Boxing Club, a club with which Ben has been closely associated for many years. 

The search gets underway at 10 a.m. from Liam Mellows GAA Club, Renmore.

Anyone taking part in the search must wear wellies and high-vis jackets.

Tomorrow will mark the seventh day since Ben, a native of Breaffy, was last seen and hundreds of volunteers, as well as members of the Defence Forces, the Garda Siochana and community groups, have been involved in daily searches since then.

In a message posted on her Facebook site, one of Ben’s sisters, Shannon, said: “I can’t even begin to tell you how tough this time is for our family and Ben’s friends.

'But all the support you’ve showed us by coming to search each day is really helping us keep our faith in finding him. Right now all we want is to find Ben Garrett and bring him home.'
