Ger's taking off in world of stand-up comedy
A CASTLEBAR man is making a name for himself in the world of stand-up comedy.
Ger Staunton, a son of local barber Ger and Agnes Staunton, Garryduff, has been featuring regularly at gigs on the circuit in London, Dublin and Galway. And he's coming home next month for a gig in Castlebar.
Ger's schedule over the past week was particularly busy, underlining his rise within the entertainment business. On March 30 he was on stage for the We Are Funny Project at the Star & Garter Theatre in London. The following night he performed at The King’s Head, London, before jetting back to Ireland for a show at the Róisín Dubh Comedy Club in Galway on Friday night.
He had a welcome night off on Saturday before starring in The Comedy Crunch at Stag’s Head, Dublin, on Sunday night. And it was back to the Róisín Dubh Comedy Club, Galway, last Monday for another performance before a packed attendance.
You'll be able to see him live in the Linenhall in Castlebar on May 19 – more on that eagerly awaited gig at a later date.
According to a recent review, Ger’s meticulously crafted material is delivered in a tongue-in-cheek style and he has performed at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Edinburgh Fringe and Electric Picnic.
