Mayo FF grassroots concerned over government deal
THE Fianna Fáil organisation in Mayo has called a special meeting to discuss the implications of the party supporting a minority Fine Gael-led government in Dáil Éireann next week.
Members of county's FF Dáil Ceanntair will gather at Breaffy House Resort on Monday night at 8 p.m. in what is expected to be a fiery affair.
A number of delegates today contacted The Connaught Telegraph to express their disappointment over their party's plan to 'prop-up' a government led by Fine Gael leader, acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
They said that when they canvassed members of the electorate during last February's general election, they gave a commitment to the people of Mayo not to do so.
It is understood that party HQ is seeking an endorsement from Dáil Ceanntair groupings across the country ahead of next Wednesday's fourth vote for the post of Taoiseach of the 32th Dáil.
The early indications are that delegates in Mayo are strongly opposed to what the Fianna Fáil party is proposing to do.
