Five Castlebar stars drop out of Mayo squad
FIVE of Castlebar Mitchels’ All-Ireland finalists have missed out on being selected in the Mayo senior football squad for the furthcoming Connaught SFC campaign.
Neil Douglas, Danny Kirby, Eoghan O’Reilly, Donie Newcombe and Ger McDonagh have not been included in manager Stephen Rochford’s panel, leaving Barry Moran and Patrick Durcan as the only county town club representatives.
Other ommissions include Mick Conroy, Mark Ronaldson, Mickey Sweeney and Shane McHale.
The process of finalising the squad will continue with the likely inclusion for six of their All-Ireland Under 21 winning side.
Mayo open their campaign against London on May 29.
