Mayo man who died in garda custody is named

THE man who died in garda custody at Westport Garda Station last Monday has been named as Tony Hopkins, Pearce Terrace, and late of Rosmoney, Westport.

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is conducting an investigation into his death.

His remains will be reposing at McGing’s Funeral Home, Westport, from 6 p.m. on Thursday evening with removal at 7.30 p.m. to St. Brendan’s Church, Myna, Kilmeena.

Burial takes place in Myna Cemetery on Friday following Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul at 11 a.m.
