A blues revival in Castlebar

CASTLEBAR Blues Revival is all about bringing back the amazing blues festival to Castlebar for 2017.

Years ago Castlebar was known internationally for its amazing blues festival, and a number of people believe it's time it was brought back to its former glory.

Hence Castlebar Blues Revival, which sees a number of gigs around town this coming weekend.

Peter Price (Mulroy's, May 14) and James Fraher (Prendergast's, May 13) played Castlebar Blues Festival back in the day, while David King (Irish House, May 13 and 14) is no stranger to Castlebar having played numerous gigs over the last few months, blowing people away with his acoustic blues.

Strange Brew (Johnny McHale's, May 14) - an amazing three-piece from Longford with their own unique take on blues/rock 'n' roll - have an amazing sound you won't forget, while Stonecold Hobo from Drogheda similarly has a sound that will simply blow you away.

Finally, Crow Black Chicken - regulars in the west - are set to do the finale in Rocky's Bar on Sunday (May 15). They always put on a great show so it's fitting that they should close Castlebar Blues Revival, which, it is hoped, will tickle the blues festival back into full action by 2017.
