Caoilinn is a voice of the future
CASTLEBAR student Caoilinn Gaughan is singing her way to success.
She has qualified for the final of the Song for ‘16 competition with her own composition, entitled ‘Éire – Mo Chuisle, Mo Chroí’.
The event takes place in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, this Sunday (May 15).
Caoilinn will be supported on her big day by students and staff from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar, who are very proud of her musical achievements to date.
The final represents the climax to an All-Ireland competition for primary and secondary schools, organised in conjunction with the National Concert Hall, Disney Music Group and the Department of Education.
There were over 150 entries and Caoilinn’s song, which she wrote and composed, is one of only seven songs to be selected for the final.
Caoilinn will sing the song herself. She will be accompanied on piano by fifth year student Maria Ruddy.
The winning song will be published and released by Disney Music Group and there is also a €1,000 prize for the primary and post–primary category winners.
Caoilinn is pictured with her music teachers at St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Ms. Clodagh Barnwell and Ms. Deirdre Lee.
