Rejoice! It's concert time
SUMMER is finally starting to show its face around Mayo and in Ballina the local Rejoice Gospel Choir is all primed to welcome the holiday season in style with the hosting of its annual summer concert tonight (Friday, May 20).
The Twin Trees Hotel is the venue and 8 p.m. the time, so soak up the summer-time buzz at what promises to be an inspirational night of musical celebration and fun.
Formed in 1999, this community choir sings regularly at Sunday Mass in St. Patrick's Church and has brought its music far and wide, sharing the joy, beauty and spirituality of gospel-style songs while also fundraising for some very worthy causes along the way.
They have also made guest appearances and provided musical entertainment at many significant events of local and national importance over the years and have featured on television numerous times.
Fresh from acclaimed performances at the hugely successful 1916 Living History Market and the recent Darkness into Light run/walk in Ballina, Rejoice has been busily fine tuning an exciting and eclectic set list for their 2016 summer concert with lots of novel surprises.
And the choir is set to continue its great fundraising record on the night as all concert proceeds will go to a very important local cause – the St. Muredach's Cathedral restoration fund. The choir is urging locals to come out in force to make the summer concert a sell-out that will, literally and metaphorically, raise the roof.
Tickets are available from the parish office on (096) 70555 or any choir member, by telephoning (087) 9101910, or on the door tonight.
