Eight great things to do in Mayo on a sunny summer's day
WHAT a wonderful day it is out west, and what a superb place it is in which to enjoy the great outdoors.
To give you some ideas, we've compiled a by-no-means exhaustive list of a number of great things to do in Mayo when the weather is fab.
Weather like this is too good to waste, so go outside and have a blast!
1 Climb a mountain (there are plenty). It'll be cooler at the top if the heat is getting to you!
2 Head to the beach. There are loads to choose from, and many have Blue Flag and Green Coast awards. Even harder to find beaches like Lacken Strand are sensational.
3 Take a boat trip to one of our offshore islands and enjoy a tipple and some wonderful seafood with an Atlantic view.
4 Get lost in nature at Ballycroy National Park or Wild Nephin, or one of the many walking and hiking trails the county is famous for.
5 Take a road trip – it's a big county, with plenty to see!
6 Go fishing. We have great lakes, great rivers, and the longest stretch of coastline of any county.
7 Sample country life as it used to be. Mayo is full of great museums just waiting to be visited.
8 Go to the bog. The turf won't save itself you know, and it'll be a long, cold, wet winter. It's best to be prepared.
