Dual star Higgins not available to face Derry

MAYO dual star Keith Higgins is not available for the county hurling side's promotion play-off against Derry at Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, on Saturday.

The Connaught Telegraph has learned that the Ballyhaunis star’s agreement in respect of playing both football and hurling ended after Mayo’s memorable victory over Armagh in the Nicky Rackard Cup final at Croke Part last Saturday.

Consequently, hurling boss JP Coen is expected to plan without him for the encounter as Higgins turns his attention to Mayo's clash against Galway in the semi-final of the Connaught SFC on June 18.
