Summer has returned to Mayo
MAYO is in the grip of a mini – and most welcome – heatwave.
Temperatures today (Monday) have reached into the 20s, with the county basking under summer sunshine. Latest weather reports are that Claremorris and Newport recorded temperatures of 22 degrees Celsius this afternoon.
And the good news is that tomorrow is set to be as good, if not better.
Met Éireann are forecasting that it will be sunny and very warm for much of the country tomorrow with highest temperatures reaching 24 to 28 degrees.
Wednesday will be warm and humid at first in the east and rather cloudy but mostly dry. Brighter, fresher conditions in the west will extend to all areas by afternoon.
Thursday will have a lot of dry weather at first, but scattered showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will be around 17 to 20 degrees, warmest in the midlands.
A band of rain followed by scattered showers is indicated to cross the country eastwards on Friday, but temperatures will remain up at 18 to 21 degrees.
Weekend forecast: changeable with a lot of dry weather but rain or showers affecting western coastal counties and parts of the north. Light to moderate southwesterly later veering westerly breezes and afternoon temperatures in the high teens.
