Big award for top Mayo bakers
MAYO bakers The Breadski Brothers' ‘Rye Bread with Cranberries’, a slow rise, sourdough bread, has been awarded an impressive two gold stars (out of a maximum three) in the 2016 Great Taste Awards.
The Breadski Brothers are a dynamic trio, originally from Poland and now baking up a storm in Castlebar.
These three brothers are passionate about real bread, breadmaking and ‘breaducation’.
Well established within the Polish market in Ireland, they have recently begun baking for Irish taste buds and the results are astounding. Watch out for their products in over 50 SuperValus around Ireland.
Justly described as the world’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards, Great Taste judged a staggering 10,000 awards this year.
This is a wonderful endorsement for this delicious rye bread from the Castlebar-based bakery which has already received a gold Blás na hÉireann award and an Irish Quality Food Award.
At only 84 calories a slice, The Breadski Brothers ‘Rye Bread with Cranberries’ is a high fibre, low fat bread with a truly delicious taste.
It is additive free and has a refreshingly short ingredient list: nothing but rye flour, water, salt and cranberries.
Plus of course some inspired baking with an inimitable Polish flair and plenty of time which real bread needs. Traditionally made sourdough bread is an increasingly popular choice for those with a gluten intolerance.
The long natural fermentation process allows bacteria to fully break down the gluten, making it easier to digest.
Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product – look out for it on the instantly recognisable Breadski Brothers packaging.
