Major fashion retailer to open in Mayo
A LEADING fashion retailer is about to breathe new life into a prime property in Castlebar which been vacant since earlier this year.
Northern Ireland based DV8 plans to open at the former Xtra-vision premises (previously McLoughlin's Bookshop) very soon.
The company, which was established in 1994 and now has outlets throughout the country, specalises in branded and own brand clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women.
It claims to now be “one of the top independent fasion retailers, both online and on the high street, known for some of the coolest fashion brands.”
Earlier this month, DV8 advertised a range of upcoming staff positions in Castlebar including the roles of store manager, assistant manager and full time and part time sales staff.
The advertisement attracted a huge response.
Auctioneer Brian Moran has confirmed that the company has signed a lease on the former HMV property.
“The impending arrival of DV8 represents not alone a retail boost for Castlebar but for the entire area,” Mr. Moran commented.
It is expected that the new store, part of a group which boasts “a huge collection of exclusive fashions each season at prices to suit every pocket, will be open seven days a week.
The closure of Xtra-vision stores in both Ballina and Castlebar recently resulted in the loss of approximately 30 jobs. In Castlebar, up to 17 full and part-time positions were lost but the arrival of DV8 is expected to go all the way towards making up for this.
