Canadian students are singing for Mayo
THEY'RE singing for Mayo in Canada, where teacher Catherine Murphy of the Music Room in St. Boniface Elementary School, Calgary, has her pupils in fine voice.
Writing on the music room blog, the children explain that because they had so many questions about Ireland for Mayo native Ms. Murphy, she kindly agreed to take them all on a cultural adventure as they explored Irish music and the exciting Irish sport of Gaelic football.
They say: “We are super excited that her home team, County Mayo, are playing in the All-Ireland final this Saturday in the hope of winning the trophy, Sam Maguire, for the first time in 65 years.
“We wish the Mayo team the best of luck all the way from Calgary. The whole school is behind you!”
Here are some students from Grade 2 and Grade 3 singing the 'Green and Red of Mayo' by the Saw Doctors.
