Our man Frank on the ball with replay
THE fact that the All-Ireland final has gone to a replay wasn't entirely unexpected in the offices of The Connaught Telegraph.
In fact, we've had 10 months notice of the fixture.
The Connaught Telegraph calendar - printed last December - showed the All-Ireland football final replay would take place on Saturday, October 1.
The in-house calendar is produced annually by Castlebar man Frank Burke, a former member of the typesetting staff at The Connaught Telegraph.
Maybe Frank had a visionary moment when he pencilled this fixture in among the numerous other sporting occasions throughout the year. And while he didn't go so far as to tell us the outcome, he's left Sunday, October 2, free - for a Mayo party.
