Five arrests in Ballina as Operation Thor takes effect
FIVE people have been arrested in three separate incidents in the Ballina area over the weekend after a number of planned garda operations took place under Operation Thor.
On Saturday morning at about 1 a.m., two people were arrested and goods were seized in an early morning swoop in the Ballina/Crossmolina area.
The two were arrested in connection with a number of burglaries and were found near the scene of a burglary.
They were brought to Castlebar garda station for questioning and were later released without charge with files to be sent on both to the DPP.
In a separate incident in the early hours of Saturday morning, the divisional drugs unit raided a premises in the Cloonarea area of Ballina and seized a significant quantity of controlled drugs, with an estimated street value of €40,000.
In a further separate incident, a person was arrested in the Ballina area on Saturday morning in relation to criminal damage in the town. He has been charged and is due before Ballina Court today.
