Death of outstanding Mayo family doctor
THE death has occurred of Dr. Richard (Dick) Tobin, 1 The Oaks, Turlough Road, and formerly of The Mall, Castlebar.
In his 91st year, the deceased served as a medical practitioner in the county town for a long number of years and was widely regarded as an outstanding family doctor.
Away from his busy professional life, he enjoyed a round of golf at Castlebar Golf Club where he served as club captain and president.
A native of Ballina, the deceased was a dedicated family man and he will be hugely missed by those closest to him.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Beda, daughters Margaret Pierse, Anne, Patricia Adediran, Carmel O'Brien, Joan Geraghty, Brid and Sinead Austin, and sons Richard, John, Leo and Paul.
He is also survived by his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, his many cherished grandchildren, relatives and friends.
The late Dr. Tobin was predeceased by his son Charles and sisters Maud and Florrie.
His family has extended grateful thanks to all the staff at Cuan Caitriona and Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar who cared for him so lovingly throughout his illness.
His remains will be reposing at Coady's Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Burial takes place in the New Cemetery, Castlebar, on Saturday following Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul at 11 a.m.
