Passing of much-loved Castlebar personality
THE death has taken place of Padraic McDonald, Greenfields, Castlebar.
The deceased was a retired member of the maintenance staff of the ambulance base located at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was widely known on the local entertainment scene for many years, having played with the Skyliners Showband.
Padraic had a deep interest in local history and carried out research on a number of aspects of Castlebar life in which he was interested.
A member of an old and respected Castlebar family, news of his passing is widely regretted in the town. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernie, over a year ago.
His remains will be reposing at Coady's Funeral Home this evening (Thursday) from 6 p.m. with removal at 8 p.m. to his residence. Removal from residence Friday morning at 10 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with burial afterwards the New Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons Brendan and Kevin, daughters Sandra Lawless, Moycullen, and Linda Mossman, Kinvara, brothers Brendan, Cyril and Toddy, sisters Delia, Maureen and Monica, daughters-in-law Angie and Clare, sons-in-law Paul and David, grandchildren Amy, Ciara, Ellen, Ben, Daithí and Lilly, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
