Mayo Pro Choice Group to protest in Castlebar this evening
MEMBERS of the Mayo Pro Choice group are protesting in support of the proposed Repeal the Eighth Bill going through the Dail this evening.
The group will be outside the Taoiseach's office in Castlebar at 5.30 p.m. to coincide with protests in Dublin and around the country as members call on Mayo's TD's to take action on the Eighth Amendment.
Jean Cross of Mayo Pro Choice said: 'We are calling on our TDs to vote in support of the proposed Repeal the Eighth Bill. There is no reason to delay a referendum any longer.
'Using the Citizen's Assembly as an excuse to abdicate the government's responsibility to the women of Ireland is a cowardly and evasive tactic which could set the referendum back years.
'While the government continues to procrastinate, women continue to suffer. The Eighth Amendment is untenable and it has to go now.'
