Gardaí make significant Mayo drug finds

GARDAÍ in the Ballina area have made significant drug finds over the past week.

On Monday of last week (October 24), cannabis with an estimated street value in the region of €13,000 was seized in a private house at Lord Edward Street, Ballina.

Two days later, what is described as “a significant amount of cannabis” was seized by uniformed gardai and members of the Divisional Drugs Unit from a private house at The Arches, Ballina.

Last Friday evening (October 28), cannabis with an estimnated retail value of €5,000 was seized in a raid on a further premises in Ballina. One person was arrested.

Files on all seizures are being prepared for the DPP.

In a further raid, non-drug related, in the Crossmolina area in recent days gardaí discovered an amount of stolen property as well as illegal fireworks, obviously intended for the Halloween market.
