Northgate to close Mayo facility with loss of six jobs

THE cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District, Councillor Michael Kilcoyne, has revealed the Northgate Business Centre is to close its Castlebar facility on December 2 with the loss of six job.

The independent representative said that three years ago there was huge fanfare that there was going to be 150 jobs created by 2016 in Castlebar with the opening of the centre.

However, the 150 jobs never materialised and the councillor stated the figure only ever reached half a dozen employees.

Councillor Kilcoyne expressed his disappointment and shock when he revealed the news on Midwest Radio.

Northgate provides a neonatal hearing-screening service for the HSE as well as a computer file management system for hospitals.
