Free parking in Mayo towns for Christmas shoppers
PARKING charges have been slashed in the towns of Claremorris and Ballinrobe for the Christmas shopping season.
Similar arrangements are also being put in place in Ballina and Castlebar, detals of which wil be announced shortly.
From December 3, car parking will be free from 1 p.m. each day on the streets and in the carparks in Claremorris.
Councillor Tom Connolly said it is very positive news for shoppers and businesses in Claremorris.
In Ballinrobe, shoppers will enjoy two weeks of free car-parking – both on the streets and in carparks – from December 12 to 24
Local Councillor Damien Ryan said that the new arrangements are being put in place following negotiations with the local business community.
