Sandra's brother's passionate plea on Missing Persons Day
TODAY (December 7) is National Missing Persons Day.
This week also marks the 16th anniversary of the last sighting of Mayo woman Sandra Collins, who went missing in Killala on December 4, 2000.
Sandra's brother Patrick spoke of his family's agony on Newstalk this morning after Sandra (29) went missing on the day she found out she was pregnant.
Patrick said the family believe Sandra is dead. Sixteen years on and the family's pain has not dulled but intensified.
Both on Newstalk and on the dedicated 'Sandra Missing Person' Facebook page, the Collins family have pleaded yet again for information as to her whereabouts.
The Facebook entry posted on the evening of December 4 stated: “16 years ago tonight Sandra was so cruelly taken away from us after buying chips in George Street, Killala. We have spent 16 years battling and searching, hoping and praying we will find where her body is hidden.
“Twelve months ago our dad was here. Tonight he is now in heaven with her.
“Time changes everything and maybe now it is time that those in the know come forward.
“We are once again asking these people to please, please tell us where she is before it's too late for them or us. Answers to this are local, we know that. We also know that people are afraid of what could happen but you can do it without getting into trouble.
“Write it in a letter or phone any of the phone numbers. Your call cannot be traced at all.
“We will never stop looking for her.”
