Council staff vote to take post-Christmas industrial action
MEMBERS of Mayo County Council's outdoor staff are set to take industrial action after Christmas over the outsourcing of staff.
In a ballot conducted by SIPTU, 85 per cent voted for strike action and 90 per cent for industrial action.
The problem came to a head a number of weeks ago when Westport outdoor staff were transferred to Ballinrobe and two Belmullet staff were sent to Ballina.
SIPTU is adamant the council is in breach of the Lansdowne Road agreement on outsourcing.
