Breaffy residents lodge petition for reduced speed limit
CONCERNED citizens of Breaffy have lodged a petition, signed by 1,800 people, seeking a reduced speed limit through the village.
They want a 60 kilometres per hour to apply to the section of road from a point west of the L-5757 Cottage Road to a point east of Breaffy Post Office and that a Special Speed Limit of 80 kilometres per hour should apply from Breaffy Post Office all the way to Manulla.
This road currently experiences significantly high volumes of traffic and users of the village facilities encounter grave and significant risks to their safety on a daily basis accessing the N60 with its current speed limit of 100 kilometres per hour.
A speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour in Breaffy village could greatly reduce the risk to residents and visitors and in particular to the 400 plus children attending Breaffy National School.
