Damaged directional sign still left dangling

A DAMAGED directional sign for the tourism office in Castlebar has been left dangling for over six weeks.

The sign is located on a signpost at the junction of Breaffy Road and Station Road.

Another directional sign for Castlebar Golf Club is lying on the ground nearby.

Now concerned citizens are angry that no action is being taken to carry out repairs.

A local man who contacted The Connaught Telegraph stated: “This junction is one of the busiest in the county town. It certainly does not improve the image of our town and reflects the attitude that nobody wants to fix this signpost. As regards where the responsibility lies, I simply don't know.

“Many concerns have been raised in recent weeks over what is wrong with our county town and this surely adds to the perception that Castlebar is losing its status as a progressive town where people cared and respected issues like good sign posting.”
