Have your say on South Mayo being moved back to Mayo constituency?
THE closing date for submisisons to the Constituency Commission is Tuesday, January 10.
A number of appeals are expected to be made to the authority to transfer South Mayo from Galway West back into the four-seat Mayo constituency.
The commission was established by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government in July following the publication by the Central Statistics Office of the preliminary results of Census 2016.
The members of the commission are Judge Robert Haughton, chairperson; the Ombudsman, Mr. Peter Tyndall; the Secretary General at the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, Mr. John McCarthy; the Clerk of the Dáil, Mr. Peter Finnegan and the Clerk of the Seanad, Ms. Deirdre Lane.
The Commission must make its report to the Chairman of Dáil Éireann no later than three months after the publication of the final results of Census 2016. These results are expected in March 2017.
Submissions should be addressed to The Secretary, Constituency Commission, Room 1.65, Custom House, Dublin 1, D01 W6X0, or by email to constituency.commission@housing.gov.ie
