Mayo hurling supremo gets key provincial GAA role
JOHNNY Hopkins has been selected as Mayo's nominee for the position of Connaught Council GAA PRO by the Mayo County Board Executive.
With the annual meeting of the GAA Connaught Council due to take place in the Connaught Centre of Excellence, Bekan, on Thursday night next, it is Mayo's turn to nominate the PRO for the next three years.
Mr. Hopkins, who is chairman of the Mayo County Hurling Board, was given the thumbs up to take over the position for the next three years.
Hopkins is no stranger to working with the Connaught Council as he held the position of treasurer for three years and also was the Mayo Connaught Council delegate for a five-year period.
Mr. Hopkins, who hails from The Neale, is a very popular member of the Mayo County Board and looking forward to his new challenge.
