Death of much-loved Castlebar personality
THE death has occurred at Mount Carmel Hospital, Dublin, of Danny McGuinness, Lakeshore Drive, Saleen, Castlebar.
A much loved personality, he was a former professional footballer who successfully coached teams at Castlebar Celtic and Castlebar Town.
In his early 90s, he worked as a telephonist at the Castlebar Exchange, Pavillion Road, for many years. Dan had a lovely singing voice and was a former member of the Mayo Male Voice Choir.
He is survived by his daughters Patricia and Caroline, son Frank, sons-in-law John and Michael, daughter-in-law Nuala, grandchildren Daniel, John, Jane, Conor, Emma and Morgan, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is extended.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (neé Lavelle).
His remains will be reposing at his residence tomorrow (Wednesday) evening from 4.30 to 7 p.m. Removal on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial takes place afterwards in New Cemetery.
