Injury doubt over Danny Kirby for Kerry assignment
MAYO midfielder Danny Kirby who impressed before coming off with a leg injury against Monaghan in last Saturday night's opening national game in Elverys MacHale Park is a major doubt for the side's second round game against Kerry in Tralee next Saturday night with an ankle injury.
The Castlebar Mitchels clubman, who had impressed in Mayo's three FBD Connaught league, was given the nod to partner Donal Vaughan in the middle of the field for Monaghan game.
However, despite impressing in his first major competitive senior game for the county, Kirby had to leave the field midway through the second-half when he was replaced by Tom Parsons.
While his ankle injury is not thought to be very serious, he still faces a race against time to be fit to play against Kerry.
Should Kirby fail to recover in time it is expected that Tom Parsons will start in midfield and will be partnered by either Vaughan or Jason Gibbons.
