Probe into incident of alleged garda impersonation in Mayo village

GARDAÍ are investigating an incident of alleged garda impersonation in an east Mayo village.

According to a report by Midwest Radio, a man called to the home of an elderly person in Bohola yesterday evening claiming to be a member of An Garda Siochana.

It is understood the individual in question may have been travelling in a beige-coloured car.

Gardai have no further description of the man or his motives.

But they are urging members of the public not to allow unknown callers into their homes without requesting identification.

If anyone is unsure about a caller to their home, they should contact their local garda station.
