'Factually inaccurate' suggestion about council spending in Mayo rejected
REGIONAL procurement officer John Maughan has rejected as “factually inaccurate” suggestions that new rules on procurement means Mayo County Council's business is flooding out of the county.
He stated the authority spent €21 million on Mayo based companies last year.
Mr. Maughan outlined that out of a total spend of almost €6 million on plant hire, 96 per cent of the business is going to Mayo based firms.
And, he added, 100 per cent of the spend on roadmaking materials remains within the jurisdiction of Mayo.
