Passing of former head porter at Mayo University Hospital

THE death has taken place of John Kearns, Knockthomas Drive, Castlebar, formerly of Lack, Parke.

A member of a popular and much-loved family, news of his passing came as a major shock to those closest to him as well as the community at large.

The deceased was a former head porter at Mayo University Hospital and was known and respected throughout the county.

His kind and unassuming manner helped to put patients at ease when they arrived at the hospital and, in his role, he always went out of his way to assist families at a difficult time when a loved one was ill.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Bernie, sons Pat and Geoffrey, daughter Clodagh, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

His remains will be reposing at the Coady Funeral Home this evening (Sunday) from 5 o’clock with removal at 7 o’clock to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass takes place on Monday morning at 11 o’clock with the funeral afterwards to New Cemetery, Castlebar.
