Man dies in single vehicle accident near Newport

A MAN in his thirties has been killed in a single vehicle accident near Newport.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. this morning approximately one mile from the west Mayo town on the main Newport to Westport road.

It is understood the car which the man was driving struck a fence at Kilbride. 

The emergency services were called to the scene of the crash.

A post-mortem is due to be conducted at Mayo University Hospital.
