Mayo ace Seamus O'Shea is available to face Donegal

THERE has been a further boost to Mayo's hopes of retaining their Division One league status with the news that Seamus O'Shea will be available for selection for Sunday's crunch tie against Donegal at Elvery's MacHale Park, Castlebar.

In the aftermath of the side's win over Tyrone, a point would secure Mayo's league future.

But were they to lose to Donegal they could be facing relegation if Cavan defeat Roscommon, although their high scoring average could also come into play.

Kerry are not out of the woods as they face Tyrone who are coming off back-to-back defeats, while Dublin, currrently leading the table on nine points, face Monaghan who are in with a big chance of making the final if they could take the Dubs scalp.

If Dublin were to lose, and Donegal beat Mayo, then Donegal and Monaghan wil contest the final.

Mayo's destiny remains in their own hands and a win would solve all their problems and secure their status without having to worry about results elsewhere.

Seamus O’Shea played a Michael Walsh with his club Breaffy on Sunday and is available for selection for next Sunday, according to a statement from the Mayo senior team management.

Ger Cafferkey could also come into the reckoning as he played with his club Ballina Stephenites on Sunday and he will be further assessed during the week to ascertain if he is available for selection next Sunday.

Donal Vaughan and Cillian O’Connor both passed SCAT 3 head injury assessment (HIA) and neither exhibited any delayed concussion symptoms on subsequent reviews so they too will be available to play against Donegal.
