Another prestigious award for Ashford Castle
ADDING to its impressive list of prestigious accolades, Ashford Castle has been named AA Hotel of the Year 2017.
The top honour was announced at an industry gathering in Dublin’s Medley restaurant.
One of the most coveted titles in the Irish hospitality industry, AA Hospitality Award winners are selected annually by AA experts in recognition of excellence in service, as well as a clear demonstration of continuous improvement.
The awards reception was attended by over 80 guests including guest of honour, Minister of State for Sports and Tourism, Patrick O'Donovan and Conor Faughnan, Director of Consumer Affairs with AA Ireland.
Accepting the award on behalf of the hotel, Mr Niall Rochford, General Manager, said:
'It is a privilege for me to accept the award for AA Hotel of the Year 2017 on behalf of my team at Ashford Castle and our family, Red Carnation Hotels. Our Founder and President of Red Carnation Hotels, Mrs Beatrice Tollman, and her entire family should be applauded for not just their investment in Ashford Castle, but for their belief in our ability to deliver a world class experience to all our guests.
“Following their epic restoration of the Castle and the re-opening of our doors in 2015, we have had incredible global recognition for the exceptional experience Ashford Castle delivers. This award acknowledges the hard work and commitment of everyone on my team and my hope is for continued success long into the future.'
Since becoming part of the Red Carnation Hotels group in 2013, Ashford Castle has undergone a comprehensive $75 million restoration, firmly establishing this standout property at the very forefront of luxury hotels both in Ireland and worldwide. The historic 800 year old Ashford Castle is uniquely nestled on 350 acres of rolling west of Ireland countryside, overlooking the shores of Ireland’s second largest lake, Lough Corrib.
As well as the hotel’s award-winning new Spa, the estate includes pristine gardens, originally created by Lady Ardilaun of the Guinness family and recently restored to their former glory during the hotel’s extensive restoration project; a 9 hole golf course; Ireland’s first School of Falconry; an equestrian centre; Ireland’s only Orvis-endorsed fishing school and newly resurfaced tennis courts, all to be enjoyed by guests of Ashford Castle.
