Machinery destroyed in suspected arson attack

GARDAÍ are treating as 'suspicious' a fire which destroyed a shed and machinery at Doocastle on the Mayo/Sligo border early today (Sunday), causing damage estimated at hundreds of thousands of euro.

A four-bay shed as well as three lorries and an excavator which were parked nearby were destroyed in a number of fire outbreaks which occurred around midnight.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Derrikinlough area of Doocastle (near Charlestown) to contact any garda station or ring the garda confidential number - 1800 666 111.
