One match ban for Mayo ace Keith Higgins is confirmed
MAYO All-Star defender Keith Higgins, who was sent off in the Connaught SFC semi-final clash against Galway in Pearse Stadium on Sunday last, has been handed a one-match ban.
This has been confirmed to The Connaught Telegraph by a Mayo County Board official.
The Ballyhaunis clubman, who was shown a straight red card after an off-the-ball incident involving Galway full-forward Damien Comer, will miss Mayo's first qualifier game which is due to to be played on Saturday, July 1.
Mayo's opponents in that game will not be known until after the first round of the qualifiers is played this coming weekend.
Should Mayo win their opening qualifier game, Higgins will be eligible to play in their next qualifier game which is down for decision on Saturday, July 8.
Meanwhile, Higgins is eligible to tog out fo his club Ballyhaunis in round two of the Mayo intermediate club championship this coming weekend.
The Mayo star is expected to be in the Ballyhaunis team which plays Ardnaree in Ardnaree on Saturday evening at 6.30 p.m.
