McCormacks return to their roots
THE opening of an office in Castlebar by AIA Loss Assessors means Pat and Rebecca McCormack are returning to their roots, writes Tom Gillespie.
Their new office, on Ellison Street, was once the kitchen of J.P. McCormack’s house, Pat’s grandad and Rebecca’s great-grandad, and where Pat’s dad, Joe, was reared.
AIA Loss Assessors Limited, who have an office in Westport for the past six years, are a firm of public loss assessors that offer unrivalled service in handling insurance claims.
With over 30 years’ experience between construction, surveying, estimating and loss assessing, they have the knowledge to successfully deal with claims and ensure the best possible settlement.
Rebecca explained: 'Following an insured loss to your home or business premises AIA Loss Assessors will act on your behalf.
'We will fully examine your policy documents and determine what type of claim can be submitted to your insurance company.
'We will then prepare, formulate, submit and negotiate the claim on your behalf. We are experienced professionals and will liaise with your insurance company and/or loss adjuster, relieving you of the stresses, strains, costs and time associated with dealing with the claim.
Pat added: 'We have handled many claims arising from flood, fire and storm, burst pipes, electrical faults, impact, burglary, public and product liability and third party claims. We handle claims in Galway, Roscommon and Sligo.
'We have also provided detailed insurance claims for solicitors as part of legal proceedings.
'We have further successfully negotiated claims on behalf of clients where their insurance policy contained clauses insuring against consequential loss and business interruption, i.e. loss of future profit/earnings.'
Rebecca, who had worked in England for four years and returned home nearly 12 months ago, continued: 'We don't charge a fee for our initial consultation/site visit. We agree a fee with our clients prior to appointment and on a ‘no foal, no fee’ basis.
'We are expanding our business to meet the need of all property owners who require representation on insurance loss and damage claims.
'We have over 30 years’ experience in construction and loss assessing and can ensure the best possible settlement for all our clients because our knowledge is your gain.'
Pat McCormack has been involved in the construction and insurance industries for the past 30 years. The experience he has gained in house building, retail, commercial and industrial construction and civil engineering projects has been invaluable in his progression into the areas of loss assessing, construction risk assessment/management, and property surveying.
Pat was managing director of his own construction and property development company for over 20 years.
He has successfully completed many multi-million euro residential, commercial, retail, industrial and civil engineering projects. His in-depth knowledge of construction, surveying and estimating is ideally suited to negotiating claims for homeowners, businesses and companies whose property has suffered from an insured loss.
Pat is a certified insurance practitioner. He has a professional diploma in insurance and a diploma in construction technology from the Dublin Institute of Technology.
