Thirty-six houses for Mayo under local authority construction programme
THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has welcomed the announcement that a provisional budget of over €6.3 million has been allocated to Mayo in a local authority housing construction programme under the Rebuilding Ireland scheme.
The funding will allow for the construction of 36 houses – four in Achill, 14 in Ballinrobe and 18 in Ballyhaunis.
In Achill, the provisional budget of €735,308 is earmarked for the construction of two two-bedroomed houses and a further two three-bedroomed at Tonragee West, representing phase two of this particular project.
The Ballinrobe development (provisional budget of €2,642,849) consists of 10 two-bedroomed houses, two three-bedroomed houses and two four-bedroomed houses at Sli na Roba, Friarsquarter. Again this is phase two of the project.
The 18 homes at Abbeyquarter, Ballyhaunis (with a provisional budget of €3,605,862), consist of nine three-bedroomed houses, eight two-bedroomed houses, and one four-bedroomed house.
“I welcome today’s announcement, which will provide much-needed housing for families in Achill, Ballinrobe and Ballyhaunis, and will also generate employment during the construction phase,” said Minister Ring.
