TWO vacant building at Shamble Street in Castlebar are set to demolished and replaced with a new commercial development.
Carline Gaughan has made application to Mayo County Council for planning permission for the project,
She is seeking to construct a three-storey mixed used development at the location near Market Square.
One of the buildings was a small dwelling while the other was a shop run by the late ‘Buzzer' Munnelly for many years.
The new ground floor will consist of a retail unit with shop front and the first and second floors will be used as apartments.
Nearby, at Ellison Street, Brid McGing is seeking to renival and extend and existing commercial unit, a protected structure, and construct a new shop front.Â
Meanwhile, two new businesses have opened at Main Street.
They are Entertainment CEX Exchange and Podi Foot Specialists. A number of other new business are also planned for the town centre, The Connaught Telegraph understands.
