Early signal of intent by McStay's Roscommon
ROSCOMMON manager Kevin McStay has again wasted no time in announcing his team to play Mayo in next Sunday's All-Ireland quarterfinal in Croke Park.
Like for their Connaught final clash against Galway when McStay announced his team almost a week before the game, he has done the same for their clash with Mayo.Â
If anything it shows a confidence in the Roscommon camp ahead of their mouthwatering clash with their arch rivals. This confidence is further underlined by the fact McStay has named the same 15 that started against Galway.
With Mayo having to play extra time before seeing off Cork last Saturday evening, McStay and Roscommon will be hoping this will have knocked a bit of 'the stuffin' out of them and that they will be able to capitalise on this next Sunday, especially if the game is tight going down the home stretch, so to speak.
It is expected that Mayo manager Stephen Rochford will not name his side until Friday night. However, it will not be a surprise of changes are made to 'the official selection' before the throw-in. Â
While Mayo had a big win over Roscommon in their last clash, the national league last February, where they ended up winners by 1-19 to 0-14, it is expected to be a much closer encounter on Sunday.
The following is the Roscommon 15 announced for the Mayo clash: Colm Lavin, Sean McDermott, John McManus, David Murray, Niall McInerney, Sean Mullooly, Brian Stack, Fintan Cregg, Enda Smith, Tadgh O'Rourke, Cian Connolly, Conor Devaney, Ciaráin Murtagh (captain), Diarmuid Murtagh, Niall Kilroy.
