Mystery over Castlebar's damaged garda CCTV pole

GARDAÍ in Castlebar are investigating damage caused to a metal pole at Main Street in the county town.

It is understood the pole, on which a garda CCTV camera is erected, was pushed sideways a number of hours ago by a heavy vehicle, although that has not been confirmed.

The bottom of the pole has been cordoned off by four traffic cones in teh interest of safety.

Pedestrians and motorists passing by today were intrigued by the sight, but nobody knew exactly what caused it.
