Swinford pipe burst and phone outage repaired

BUSINESSPEOPLE at Market Street, Swinford, have welcomed prompt and efficient action by Mayo County Council and Irish Water in repairing a burst water main early today (Wednesday)

They say that if immediate action had not been taken in digging up the street and repairing the burst pipe a number of shops and other business premises would have been flooded.

The alarm about the burst leak was raised in the early hours by local workers as they completed a night shift.

Parts of Swinford town also experienced a breakdown in phone (Telecom) communications last night but repairs have been made and services restored.

The water and phone breakdowns are not believed to have been connected.
