Call for traffic lights at Gallows Hill junction

A FRESH call has been made for traffic lights at the junction of Gallows Hill, Chapel Street, Newline and Tucker Street in Castlebar.

There was gridlock there today during school drop-off and pick-up times.

Now former town councillor Harry Barrett wants Mayo County Council to erect traffic lights at the location to help smooth traffic flow.

"The situation, as it exists on school days, is tough on people trying to get to work," he added.
