Funeral arrangements for Mayo GAA legend Joe Corcoran

THE funeral arrangements have been announced for Joe Corcoran, Glen Ri and late of Healy Terrace, Ardnaree, Ballina.

A true Mayo GAA legend who starred for his county in the 1960s and early 1970s, news of his passing yesterday evoked a huge sense of loss in the sporting community at large and many genuine tributes have been paid to him.

The deceased, who played his club football with Ardnaree, was also an accomplished golfer at Ballina Golf Club. He was predeceased by his wife Renee.

His remains will repose at McGowan's Funeral Home, Ballina, on Friday evening from 6.30 p.m. with removal at 8.30 p.m. to St. Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina.

Requiem Mass takaes place on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Leigue Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters and son Mary (Doherty, Ballina), Catherina (Carlette, U.S.) and Joseph (Ballina), sons-in-law John and Stephen, daughter-in-law Julie, grandchildren Emma, Jonathan, Stephen, Kelsie, Georgia, Richard and Rianna, relatives, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
